Shyheim Nwadiei made his first major label debut in the summer of 2021. Based in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Shyheim’s rap style is often compared to the likes of J. Cole, Kendrick Lamar, Common, and MF DOOM. Shyheim’s music stands out as both culturally rich and deeply reflective, blending together his Nigerian and Native American heritage with introspective lyricism and intricate storytelling, offering listeners a fresh take on modern rap. Shyheim’s early career began with his participation in Motown Records’ collective, Fire In Little Africa, a project created to commemorate the 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre. At this stage, he performed wearing a mask, a symbolic gesture that helped him cope with the pressures of stepping into the spotlight while finding his own voice. His contributions to the collective’s work solidified his position as a rising talent in hip-hop, while honoring the cultural history of his hometown. Today, Shyheim is ready to fully embrace his solo career, removing his mask as a symbol of growth, though he keeps it close as a memento of the past. With multiple singles set to release starting in October 2024, he aims to prove his worth as a solo rap artist, showing the world that he is ready to stand among the best rappers and entertainers globally.
